Explorer Scouts are aged between 14 and 18 years old and make up the fourth Section of the Scouting family. There are many types of Explorer Scout Units, some may be linked to a local Scout Group, others may be based around different activities.
Aire Valley Explorer Unit covers
Wilsden, Harden, Cullingworth & Denholme. There are also Explorer
Scout units based in Shipley, Saltaire and Bingley. Not all Units meet each week, because they will often be out and about at
weekends or in the holidays doing activities. There will be times when they will
be busy doing other things such as exams, and being an Explorer Scout fits
around these.
As an Explorer Scout, you will get the chance to work with other Explorer Scouts
in your District, not just your Unit. By doing this, you will get the chance to
do many more activities, not just the ones your Unit organizes.

In addition to the Scout Award scheme, we run The Duke of Edinburgh's Award
as part of the programme for Explorer Scouts. DofE's mission is to inspire,
guide and support young people in their self-development and recognise their
achievements.
The mission is achieved through personal development programmes and the
assessment and presentation of Awards.
