Curley Hill Challenge 10th/11th May 2002

Over 40 scouts representing the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, & 11th troops arrived at Curley Hill campsite in Ilkley. After a night under canvas the teams were taken to a drop-off point some miles away to the north. Each team had to plan their own route to a pre-planned checkpoint above Ilkley. The teams were given 2 lives and seven hours to reach the checkpoint. Searchers were dropped in the area whose job it was to find the teams and take away one of the lives. The day was very sunny and the scouts returned with quite a tan. Several of the teams had various encounters with the local cattle and wildlife. After an hectic day trying to gain the checkpoint without being caught all the teams returned safely. The winners of the challenge were the 11th, with the 5th coming a very close second, followed by the 6th in 3rd place.

The 11th were presented with the Ian Clough Trophy by

Paul Jagger ADC Scouts.

Everyone enjoyed the chase and agreed it should be planned for 2003.
